YELLOW POINT/CEDAR

T

The rural coastal area of Yellow Point is located in the tranquil and picturesque countryside just north of Ladysmith on a broad forested peninsula complete with rural rolling landscapes. The area takes its name from the brilliant yellow flowers of the Stonecrop plant which still grows in profusion along the rocky shorelines in the area.

Yellow Point provides all the pleasures of country living combined with a wide array of craft shops, studios and cottage industries. There are many shops and galleries where you can enjoy latest creations of many of the well known artists and artisans that live in this area. Products range from paintings, carved metal works, stained glass, pottery, paper mache and linens.

The area has an excellent and well deserved reputation for its small resorts, and bed and breakfasts with beautiful views facing the Gulf Islands of DeCourcy, Ruxton, Pylades, Valdes and Thetis. While driving, walking or biking the beautiful loop drive along the Yellow Point Road, you can savour the ocean views, the rivers and small lakes, the farmers fields and the interesting sandstone rock outcroppings along the shoreline unique to Yellow Point.

There is no doubt that a leisurely trip through the forests and farmland of Yellow Point makes for a very pleasant break. Excellent picnic spots include Yellow Point Park with its picturesque and rustic trails and Blue Heron Park, a beach park with picnic tables, good beach access and swimming. There are many pastimes to be enjoyed at Yellow Point, a quiet and serene little haven.
